SAUSAGE BROWNIES
          
Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Swaggerty’s Farm Mild Sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 1 ½ cup raisins
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 ½ cups plain flour
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon each: baking powder, soda, and cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Caramel Icing Ingredients:

  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

  • Bring raisins and water to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Reserve 1 cup water and drain raisins thoroughly.
  • Mix all ingredients until completely mixed.
  • Add raisins and reserved liquid and stir in nuts.
  • Pour into 9X13 baking pan which has been sprayed with cooking oil spray.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

Icing Directions:

  • Combine butter and brown sugar over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  • Add milk and return to heat. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool to lukewarm.
  • Add vanilla and powdered sugar. Add more powdered sugar is the icing is to soft or more milk if it is to firm.
